Manipulation & Grasping

Build the manipulation layer — grasping, contact, reliability — that decides whether a humanoid actually works on the line.

Location
Aachen, Germany
Employment
Full-time
Work model
On-site

At Athenyx Robotics, we are building the intelligence stack for industrial humanoid robotics. We move robots beyond rigid automation toward adaptive, learning-based systems that hold up in real industrial environments — combining robot learning, perception and simulation with direct access to industrial use cases and data.

This role owns the part of the stack where the robot has to actually do the work: grasp the part, tolerate contact, recover from surprise, and repeat — shift after shift.

The work

  • Develop manipulation pipelines including grasping, motion generation and task execution.
  • Work on contact-rich manipulation and interaction with real-world objects.
  • Integrate perception, planning and control for robust task execution.
  • Deploy manipulation solutions on real robotic systems and validate performance in industrial environments.
  • Optimize robustness and reliability under real-world constraints.
  • Collaborate across perception, learning and systems to build end-to-end capabilities.

About you

  • Degree (Bachelor, Master or PhD) in robotics or a related field with strong foundations in manipulation, planning or control.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.
  • Experience working with robotic systems.
  • Experience with manipulation, motion planning or grasping.
  • Interest in real-world robotic interaction and building systems that operate reliably outside the lab.
  • Willingness to work across the stack and contribute beyond a single subsystem.
  • Experience with contact-rich manipulation.
  • Familiarity with perception systems or grasp detection models.
  • Exposure to simulation or learning-based approaches.
  • Work on real robotic systems in industrial environments with direct practical impact.
  • Close collaboration with industry partners and access to real-world use cases and data.
  • High ownership and responsibility from day one in a small, capable, execution-focused team.
  • Flexible working hours and collaborative culture focused on building and learning.
  • Opportunity to shape next-generation AI-driven robotics systems from the ground up.
